這圖的效果明暗對比有做到了,
不過因為表情動作很靜態,有點沈鬱之感...
不會是代表貓屋君的心情吧?

因為近來都是諸事不吉
做freelance給走數,想找長工又石沈大海,碰到一鼻灰。
越來越唔知道自己畫咩,之後又越來越唔知道自己搞緊咩‧‧‧‧

現在在上臨時工,短期內應該不會有大問題。
曾有過一點點設計的經驗,但又不想當設計。
因為之前已經花了很多年在這方面,只覺自己一事無成,再花時間也會白費時間。
想重新起步做動畫或遊戲,又去找了課程來讀,但又怕年紀大了,不會有人請‧‧‧‧
前路一片黑暗,又沒有人可以指點,
朋友又少得可以,想找個人問都沒有,
請問可以給我一點意見嗎?

HK must be so hot... while NZ is so cold... luckily no snow in Auckland

Overall it's fine - as Po commented.
I only add a remark:
Some more works to be done to handle the coloring and reflection of goggles...
Anyway, it's a complicated task, but try to observe how the reflection works on an actual goggle. (Reflections and highlights are sharp and clear... colours tend to have a high contrast.)

If you can produce a good showreel and nice portfolio, age shouldn't be an issue.
(Only concerns related to your age are your abilities to endure long hours of working in front of computers and OT... I guess it's quite common in HK)

Showreel features your BEST works and should be too long. Keep it about a minute.
Keep the best one at the start AND the 2nd best be the last one. People who screen your reel won't spend too much times on non-outstanding works.

Also, if you are specific in certain areas like modelling, you may need to make extra showreels dedicated to those special fields.

動畫 and 遊戲 are both teamworks and can be divided into different roles.
If you are aiming to provide graphical supports, I guess you only need to take courses on 動畫 as the skill sets are transferrable.
But if you want to do the programming works as well... go for something easy to program with.

Recently, one of my kiwi friends suggested this Open Source game programming package (as being open source, it's kind of free)

See if you could use it.

I've scanned through your 3D works. Smoothening the surfaces should give you nice looking manga 3D characters. You are quite good at modelling manga-type characters, but you need to show more variety of works if you are aimming to get a job, like some realistic works OR works from other genre.
Animation... more works and efforts should be invested. Just changing camera angles on the same animations won't land you a job. The animations you put in Youtube are too basic... though better than bouncing balls and spinning chairs.

As you have invested a lot of times to model the characters, you should plan some plots for them to act. What I mean is that you should let them to do more actions, like let them dance to a background music... I guess about an ainimation of 30 to 40 seconds long should occupy you for a few weeks.

Since we watched a lot of anime... even those are 2D, the principles are the same. Also, you need to be observative to your surroundings and try to analyze how things move. When you do animation, you need to sort the PRIMARY animations first before going for the minor SECONDARY animations. For example, you need to sort out a character to walk for a short distance, then adding hair movements, clothing movements, etc. to make the whole animation more interesting.

Since I'm not dealing with 3D max, I won't give you much helps.
But you can visit these sites:

Most of times you have to stay active and eager to learn more than what the course would teach you.

At this stage, which areas you are confident? Modelling, texturing, lighting, animation, scene set-up, camera setting, rendering, etc.?

只要是有當過設計的都會很明白很多情況都要長時間對着電腦公作,
因我以往也是經常性要開通霄,最高紀錄還要一整個星期沒有睡,趕工起來就是如此。
即使是現在在上的臨時工也是夜班公作,由晚上十點半去到第二朝七點‧‧‧‧‧

事實上這麼多時間裡都是比較着重於建模方面,但因為過去都沒有在動畫或是遊戲公司的工作經驗,
所以現在都只希望找到一份traineee來從低做起,如果可以入到行的就真是最好不過。

放在部落格內的東西只合佔了我不到一半的東西,
只是沒放上部落格的有一部份是在讀IVDC的動畫設計助理課程時的作業,
按照IVDC的的附例『在學院所製作的作品版權屬於IVDC,不可以對外公開』,
所以這些都不可以放上部落格內,如不是我極有可能會給人告,以往也有人因這條例而犯了官司。
另一部份是我接回來的freelance,都是玩具的樣版,雖質量方面有一定程度的保證,
但因為都是別人公司的東西屬別人的商業機密,所以一樣都不可以任意公開。
但不論如何,真的要多一點嘗試不同題材了就是了,

我想每個人一生都總會遇到不順利的日子吧~! 我也有過類似的黑暗日子(現在也不見得很光明 )
我想如果你經濟許可, 報讀課程也未尚不可, 總會有東西可以學到, 但如果你經濟也不是很充裕, 我勸你自修好了! 買本書只需一百元, 有心機剿的圖書館也可以借到, 再有心機一點的, 網絡上那麼多學之不盡的免費教材!! 出面的course水準參差, 以我所知都是hea多, 很靠學生的自我修為... 給錢人賺自我修為倒不如真的自修好了

有時一個人的黑暗經歷, 可以令他成長得很快!
曾經做過一間遊戲公司, 是做iphone Game的, 出的game都是3D, 我的職位就是在Photopshop上貼貼畫畫TEXTURE, 然後在3Dmax 上看看效果,  看似簡單, 卻因為這是我第一份真正和畫畫有貼身關係的工作, 所以很多事都撞板撞到很應, (例如連photoshop很多基本的使用方法都錯了),每天收工都像喪屍, 神經緊張得每晚都失眠, 然後第二天又要捱去上班, 殘到連鏡子都不敢照... 終於做了五天, 放了一個周末周日後回來就比炒了, 我當時震驚又很憤怒! 我在簽被炒同意書之前很有禮貎地問炒我的人我的死因, 還有有甚麼可以忠告我的地方... 他說3d mapping時很多細微位我都沒有留意到, 例如會出現很多奇怪的紋之類的, (當時沒有人對我說這些有問題)和, 致命的photoshop沒有熟練
因為這兩句話, 我在得到新工作的頭三個月(試用期)都變得非常的細心, 每一個地方能問清楚都盡量問清楚, 還有很重要的是: 要早一步比你的頭目發現問題! 當然還有苦練photoshop, 參考了不同強者的繪畫方法, (但發現在photoshop上畫畫, 怎樣畫跟本沒有絕對的吧) 最後終於有幸在這家公司捱到今天, 其實是這間公司要求太寬鬆吧...

說了一大堆我的短暫黑暗經歷...

你這黑暗時期對你很重要! 要好好看清楚問題在哪裡!? 不知誰的名言, 大概是說現在沒有所謂的懷才不遇了! 大部份問題都在自己身上, 找出來, 然後解決它們吧! 如果你想其他人幫你一把找你的缺點, 至少你要把你自覺最滿意的作品(商業或個人)拿出來給人看(不一定要公開) , 才可以獲得多點意見啊!!

至少你現在有份工! 並不太壞!

Problem with 3D animation... once you concentrate onto it, you don't want to stop until you get that particular animation sequence completed.

I guess you have to need to get yourself familiar with animation tools and some of basic animation rules. Observation and the abiity to analyse how to dulplicate the animations will be important. (This helps you to get ideas how to animate particular actions from reference materials)

Even with water-marking?
Gosh... how to make portfolio after completing the course? That's very important for beginners.

If the products are already out and water-marked with the companies logo, will this make it easier for you to display?

Demo reels have many types, so you need to go online to find out how others did for particular genre like modelling, animation, texturing, etc. If you check out my DA site, you will locate my animation reel. Though it's not the best reel, you will at least have some ideas.

Just don't give up. Everyone has ups and downs.
Like nikle suggested, you should let your 3D works to get more critics to get improvement.

Having a job is fun... I just finished my study and eager to get back to job market.

To nikle:
3D texture artists can be very specialised. Close-up texture is already different from normal in-game textures. Moreover, the funny resolutions (64x64, 128x128, 256x256, etc.) Perhaps iPhone have different requirements due to their HD display. I haven't mastered this area either
